In last game in Chicago, Jordan leaves with loss
NBA roundup, notes
The Associated Press
CHICAGO - This wasn't the way Michael Jordan wanted to leave Chicago.
He got the thunderous ovation that lasted four minutes. And there were adoring signs throughout the arena, flashbulbs popping each time he touched the ball and fans cheering his every move.
But his former team sent him out a loser in the building where he once ruled the NBA.
Marcus Fizer scored all but one of his 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Chicago Bulls beat Jordan and the Washington Wizards 104-97 Friday. It was Jordan's first loss in five games against the Bulls.
Jordan addressed the crowd after his pregame introduction.
"I love you all. You're still supporting the Chicago Bulls. Thank you for supporting them over the years," he said. "Thank you all."
Though he got a standing ovation when he left with 8.1 seconds left, he hurried off the court at the buzzer and left the arena quickly.
He finished with 11 points, three assists and five rebounds, shooting 4-of-14 from the field in 39 minutes.
Fizer dominated inside in the fourth quarter, scoring Chicago's first 11 points.
Still, Jordan and the Wizards almost pulled out a win. Trailing 97-87, they reeled off eight straight points, capped by four from Jordan.
With two minutes left, Jordan grabbed an offensive rebound, drove the baseline and scored on a layup to cut Chicago's lead to four. He drew a foul on the next possession and made both shots, pulling Washington to 97-95.
But after a timeout, Fizer grabbed a loose ball and scored on a hook. Donyell Marshall then sealed the victory with three free throws in the last 30 seconds.
Nets 89, Lakers 83 LOS ANGELES - New Jersey's Kerry Kittles had 17 points to lead a balanced scoring attack and hit a pivotal 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining as the Nets beat the Los Angeles Lakers 89-83 Friday night.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak that was New Jersey's longest of the season. The loss was the Lakers' third in four games.
Kenyon Martin had 18 points for New Jersey, which had six players in double figures.
Shaquille O'Neal had 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Lakers, but missed four of six free throws in the final 1:51.
Kittles made a 3-pointer to put the Nets up 85-83 with 40 seconds remaining after O'Neal had just made one of two free throws to give Los Angeles a one-point led.
O'Neal then missed two free throws, Martin made a pair from the line for New Jersey, then the Lakers' Robert Horry missed a 3-pointer and Martin scored on a fast break.
Derek Fisher scored 22 for Los Angeles, but Kobe Bryant, slowed by tendinitis in his right knee, had just 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting.

Newble has been bothered by inflammation in his left knee. Crawford missed 31 games because of lingering problems with his sore left knee.
KINGS: Sacramento activated forward Scot Pollard from the injured list and replaced him with forward Lawrence Funderburke, who missed two games with an ailing right foot and tendinitis in his left Achilles tendon. Pollard hadn't played since Nov. 6 because of a stress fracture in his lower back.

Robinson didn't travel with the Spurs for Friday night's game at the Utah Jazz, and he'll also miss today's home game against the Detroit Pistons.
