Enquirer's Tipoff page

In today's Enquirer's Tipoff page, we'll look at who's hot and who's not, our Sweet 16, the Top 5 schools with the most top-10 finishes in AP poll history, this week's Must-See TV, five questions with Oklahoma guard Hollis Price, and we'll catch up with ex-Bearcat Kenyon Martin. We'll also answer some of your UC and Xavier e-mail questions.

WHO'S HOT

Oklahoma State

The Cowboys have won 15 straight and stand atop the Big 12 Conference standings with a 6-0 league record (17-1 overall). When the conference season began, all the talk centered on Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, but OSU is as good as anyone and near the top of the RPI rankings.

Fresno State

Ray Lopes' Bulldogs are off to a good Western Athletic Conference start, winning nine of their last 10 games. Seven of the wins have been by three or fewer points. Damon Jackson has hit four game-winning shots this season.

Dana Altman

Creighton's coach won his 164th game, breaking the school record for wins, which stood since 1935. The only question is whether Altman will stay with the Bluejays long enough to reach 200.

WHO'S NOT

Oklahoma's clock operator

It's surprising that Bob Knight isn't demanding a win-loss reversal after an investigation into mysterious clock stoppages revealed that Hollis Price's jumper didn't beat the buzzer, and Oklahoma shouldn't have defeated Texas Tech last week.

Late-night snacks

Maybe Lute Olson should feed Arizona's players a little more on road trips. That way, there would be no speculation as to who was actually stealing candy bars from a vending machine in a Kansas hotel last week. Is this for real?

Henry Bibby

USC's coach has been hounding officials all season, and the Pac-10 finally stepped up and put him on probation, although there is no word on the terms. It's doubtful Bibby will meet even the most lenient restrictions, considering the Trojans' mediocre performance thus far.

SWEET 16

1. Pittsburgh Syracuse looking for revenge today at home.
2. Florida Hasn't missed James White one bit.
3. Duke Ended two-game slide by beating Ga. Tech.
4. Arizona Too many candy bars yields loss to Stanford.
5. Oklahoma St. Owns nation's longest win streak at 15.
6. Texas No free-fall after tough loss at Kansas.
7. Oklahoma Should cruise for next two games.
8. Louisville No one has shot over 50 percent vs. Cards.
9. Kentucky Florida awaits Tuesday.
10. Illinois Ends Michigan's 13-game win streak.
11. Maryland Look who's leading the ACC.
12. Kansas Rode Nick Collison's back to win over Texas.
13. Wake Forest 200th career win for Skip Prosser.
14. Creighton Best mid-major still getting it done.
15. Mississippi St. Three straight W's for the Bulldogs.
16. California Might be only challenger to Arizona in Pac-10.

TOP 5

This week's topic: The five schools with the most top-10 finishes in the AP poll:

Kentucky - 35.

North Carolina - 27.

UCLA - 22.

Duke - 23.

Kansas - 19.

MUST-SEE TV

Xavier at Richmond, Noon today (ESPN): The Musketeers need this one before a hostile crowd if they want to keep pace with Dayton.

Indiana at Louisville, 1 p.m. today (Ch. 12): Louisville is the nation's surprise team. A win here could get Indiana back on track.

Marquette at Cincinnati, 4 p.m. today (ESPN): This one is turning into a regular classic that has major impact on the C-USA race.

Miami at Kent State, 6 p.m. Monday (FSN): The Flashes have ruled the MAC for three years, but Miami is one of the few teams that has had success against KSU.

Cincinnati at Louisville, 7 p.m. Wednesday (ESPN): The most intriguing game of the week. The Bearcats could make major noise by upsetting the Cardinals at home.
