Love loses lead, then regains it
Pebble Beach win his first in 2 years
The Associated Press
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Davis Love III was right: Staying ahead is even tougher than coming from behind at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Fortunately for Love, he's capable of doing both.
Love surrendered a three-stroke lead over Tom Lehman with six holes to play Sunday, but made a birdie putt on the 18th hole for a one-stroke win - his first win since his first Pebble Beach triumph in 2001.
Love got his 15th PGA Tour victory with a final-round 68 to finish at 14-under 274 for the tournament.
"That's probably as nervous as I've ever been playing a round of golf," Love said. "I was so nervous (on the 18th) because I figured I had to make eagle to win, birdie to tie.''
Phil Mickelson finished at 296 - last among those who made the cut.
Franklin's Frank Lickliter finished tied for 25th at 2-under 286.
Steve Flesch (Covington Catholic) and Andy Sanders (Turpin) missed the cut after three rounds.
PEARL OPEN: Michelle Wie, 13, shot a 5-over-par 77 to finish with an 8-over-par 224 and tied for 43rd place at Aiea, Hawaii.
The eighth grader was the only female, and the youngest, in the field of 192.
Last month, Wie tried to qualify for the PGA Tour Sony Open. She shot a 73 from the back tees and tied for 47th against 96 men.
Wie said Sunday she has accepted a sponsor's invitation to play in the LPGA ShopRite Classic in June.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Dave Barr ended 16 years of frustration with one putt. He became the first Canadian winner in Champions Tour history.
Barr birdied the final four holes, capped by a 35-foot putt on the 18th, to win the Royal Caribbean Classic in Key Biscayne, Fla., his first win on the 50-and-over tour. His last previous victory was the 1987 PGA Tour Georgia-Pacific Atlanta Golf Classic. He earned $217,500 for the win in the first full-field event on the Champions Tour, formerly known as the Senior PGA Tour.

ANZ CHAMPIONSHIP: Paul Casey scored a four-point victory over Stuart Appleby and Nick O'Hern in Sydney, Australia. The tournament, co-sanctioned by the European and Australian tours, was played under a modified Stableford scoring system.
