Rodney Prescott, leading rider of the 2002 holiday meeting, rode his 1,000th career victory aboard My Name's Jamie in the first race Sunday.

"I felt confident I was going to win until the last jump," Prescott said. "I thought she (Mary Doser) had caught me. This is a great feeling. I always thought I'd reach 1,000. Now I know I can reach 2,000."

Leading rider Jason Lumpkins reached the 2,000-win milestone Jan. 31. Doser became the 14th female rider to reach 1,000 wins Saturday.

SANTA ANITA: Composure, under Jerry Bailey, outran Elloluv late to win the $200,000 Las Virgenes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
