CANEY, Ky. - A head-on collision killed two motorists from Pike County late Friday night, state police said.
The 10:30 p.m. crash occurred on U.S. 23 near Caney, when Herman France's 1986 Chevrolet Camaro hit a 1998 Nissan pickup head-on.
France, 47, and a passenger in the truck, Pageant Renee Tucker, 28, both of Pikeville, were pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts.
Kentucky State Police said France was traveling north in the southbound lane. Police gave no other details of why France was in the wrong lane.
Tucker's vehicle overturned, and she was ejected, police said.
The driver of the truck, Ricky Tucker, was transported to Pikeville Methodist Hospital, where his condition was not immediately known.
Three others traveling in another vehicle were injured in the crash, though they were treated and released from local hospitals.
