NKU men win opener in GLVC Tournament

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Bobby St-Preux scored eight straight points midway through the second half Thursday as Northern Kentucky University rallied to defeat Wisconsin-Parkside 64-55 in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
Parkside held a 42-20 lead with 9:34 left in the game, but St-Preux hit two straight 3-point shots to put NKU ahead.
St-Preux finished with 13 points and three steals.
"That spurt by Bobby turned us around," NKU coach Ken Shields said. "We knew this would be a very tough game."
Mike Kelsey scored 19 points to lead third-seeded NKU (23-5), which advanced to the semifinals at 7 p.m. today against Southern Indiana.
NKU is ranked No. 10 in the NCAA Division II poll.
The second-seeded Norse women also play today, taking on third-seeded Quincy.

The University of Cincinnati women begin C-USA Tournament play today, meeting Southern Mississippi at 1 p.m. at Memphis.
The Bearcats are seeded second and received a first-round bye. Southern Miss beat Houston 71-69 Thursday to advance.

The Xavier women open A-10 Tournament competition at 6 p.m. today at Rhode Island against sixth-seeded La Salle, which defeated Massachusetts 67-62.
The Musketeers are the West's No. 2 seed and received a first-round bye.
