BATAVIA - A 48-year-old Milford woman is facing a felony charge after being accused of impersonating a nurse.
Nancy A. Olsen was indicted this week by the Clermont County grand jury on a charge of unlicensed practice of nursing, a fifth-degree felony.
Olsen, who has prior felony convictions involving controlled substances, formed her own home nursing care company, VIP Senior Care Inc., while claiming to be a licensed practical nurse, said Clermont County Prosecutor Don White.
She previously worked for a home nursing company as an aide, where she met a wealthy, elderly Miami Township man in need of home care. He hired Olsen and her company, which employed two aides, directly. The group lived at the man's home and took care of him for much of 2002 and the beginning of 2003, White said.
The man's children were suspicious of Olsen, who claimed she had 30 years of experience as an LPN, after they repeatedly asked for a copy of her license without success, White said.
They reported her to the Ohio Board of Nursing, which investigated and discovered she did not have a license, he said.
The other aides, who did not claim to be nurses, are not facing charges.
