HAMILTON - The safest place to be April 5 might be the Butler County Fairgrounds.
For the second year, the free Family Safety Round Up will host more than 60 organizations, all educating the public on different types of safety.
"We really have something for everybody," said Jim Jordan, agent in 4-H Youth Development at the OSU Extension, Butler County.
Jordan said certain groups were targeted to offer safety instruction involving senior citizens. LifeSpan will be teaching seniors how to prevent falls and injury.
On the younger side, groups will be presenting information geared toward children, including car seat inspections and child immunization safety.
Other safety instruction includes everything from animal bites to boating, firearms to railroads. Local fire departments will also show correct action in case of an emergency, including fire, tornado and terrorism.
Organizers hope to draw more than the 1,000 visitors that attended in 2002.
Booths will be set up throughout the fairgrounds for people to visit at their own will.
A mock car crash will also be presented to demonstrate how fire departments and agencies respond to a crash scene.
"It's a very positive thing that goes on," Jordan said. "So many mock crashes are held at schools now. We hope this will give parents an opportunity to see what they are all about."
Many door prizes will also be awarded including gift certificates and bicycles.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., and programs last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The mock crash will take place at 1 p.m., with door prizes awarded.
