Congress: Resolution of support

'One team, one fight'

With U.S. forces in combat Thursday, it was good to see Congress drop the rancor of recent days and show support for our troops.

The Senate unanimously passed a resolution that praised the soldiers, offered support for President Bush as commander in chief, and even thanked the British government for "courageous and steadfast support." In the House, drafters worked to finesse the wording to overcome objections that it endorsed Bush's policies, but it was expected to pass virtually unopposed. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said it best: "Despite our differences on policy, when we go into battle, it will be one team, one fight."
