FLORENCE - Jockey Patricia Cooksey, the one-time winningest female jockey in thoroughbred history, took a fall aboard Stormy Port in the third race Saturday at Turfway Park.

Cooksey, one of Turfway's leading jockeys, was taken to nearby St. Luke Hospital West for observation. Her mount had to be destroyed.

LUKAS' CAT: Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas said Ozzie Cat, the horse he saddled in the Lane's End Stakes that finished ninth, will be dropped down in class. "I've tried everything I can think of," Lukas said. "He is not up to this level. We will have to look for a softer spot."

BOURBONETTE: Golden Marlin charged to the lead down the stretch, seemingly winning the $150,000 Bourbonette Breeders Cup eighth race, but was dropped to second by the steward after the race for bumping Adopted Daughter, the official winner. "No question, the other filly knocked my filly's feet out but my filly never gave up, she kept running," said Adopted Daughter's jockey, Dean Butler.

RUSHAWAY: Private Gold made his challenge with about a quarter mile to go and survived a bump by Acceptable Venture to win the $100,000 Rushaway Stakes.

Private Gold trainer Patrick Byrne wasn't certain where the colt will go next. "Maybe we'll go to Lexington or the Derby Trail," Byrne said. "I don't know about the (Kentucky) Derby. He'll have to improve a lot in a hurry."

DECISION: Trainer Jennifer Pedersen said she and owner Ernie Paragallo decided to come to Turfway for the Lane's End rather than run New York Hero in the Gotham at Aqueduct because: "We were ready to try him against better 3-year-olds. You have to race the best competition to improve, and he just keeps getting better."
