UConn roars back into winning form
Women's NCAA roundup: Huskies have no problem in first game since loss

STORRS, Conn. - Connecticut looked unbeatable again, roaring back from its first loss in two years with a 91-44 rout of Boston University in a first-round East Regional game.
Also back in peak form was Diana Taurasi, who led the top-seeded Huskies (32-1) with 21 points and seven assists.
UConn owns the longest winning streak in Division I women's basketball with 70 consecutive victories. Villanova snapped the run March 11 with a 52-48 upset in the Big East Tournament finals.
Despite the loss, the Huskies earned a top seed in the NCAA Tournament and play Texas Christian in the second round.
EAST REGIONAL
Texas Christian 50, Michigan State 47
STORRS, Conn. - Grace Gantt scored seven of her 15 points in the final eight minutes as Texas Christian held off Michigan State.
Syretta Bromfield led the Spartans with 18 points and 15 rebounds. The ninth-seeded Horned Frogs (20-13) play Connecticut in the second round Tuesday night.
Notre Dame 59, Arizona 47
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Alicia Ratay scored nine of her 20 points in a 15-0 second-half run that sent 11th-seeded Notre Dame over Arizona.
Notre Dame (20-10) moved into a second-round game Tuesday night against Kansas State.
Kansas St. 79, Harvard 69
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kendra Wecker scored 21 points and Nicole Ohlde added 20 on near-perfect shooting as Kansas State beat Harvard. Laurie Koehn scored 17 points for Kansas State. The Wildcats face 11th-seeded Notre Dame in the second round Tuesday.

South Carolina 68, Chattanooga 54
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Christina Ciocan scored eight of her 18 points during a 13-0 second-half run to rally South Carolina. South Carolina next plays Penn State.
Penn State 64, Holy Cross 33
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Kelly Mazzante scored 27 points to lead Penn State.
No. 13 seed Holy Cross (24-8) never got closer than 22 points in the second half. Lisa Andrews led Holy Cross with 10 points. Penn State will face No. 5 seed South Carolina in the second round Tuesday.
Villanova 51, St. Francis, Pa. 36
NORMAN, Okla. - Villanova took advantage of two scoring droughts by St. Francis, Pa., to pull away in the first-round game.
Katie Davis scored 15 points and Trish Juhline had 12 for the second-seeded Wildcats.
Villanova (26-5) advances to play Tuesday night against No. 7 seed George Washington.
George Washington 71, Oklahoma 61
NORMAN, Okla. - Cathy Jones had 22 points, 14 in the second half when George Washington held off an Oklahoma rally to beat the Sooners. The seventh-seeded Colonials (25-6) will play No. 2 seed Villanova on Tuesday night.

Duke 66, Georgia State 48
RALEIGH, N.C. - Alana Beard scored 19 points and Duke set a school record for wins but struggled to beat Georgia State. Duke moved on to play Utah in the second round Tuesday.
Patechia Hartman led Georgia State with 16 points.
Utah 73, DePaul 64
RALEIGH, N.C. - Kim Smith scored 35 points and Utah closed the first half with a scoring surge to beat DePaul. Smith, the Mountain West Conference player and rookie of the year, had 23 points in the first half as the eighth-seeded Utes (24-6) advanced to play Duke by shooting 50 percent.
Texas Tech 67, SW Missouri St. 59
LUBBOCK, Texas - Plenette Pierson scored 25 points and had 13 rebounds as Texas Tech beat Southwest Missouri State in the first round. Second-seeded Texas Tech (27-5) will face UC Santa Barbara.

Louisiana Tech 94, Pepperdine 60
RUSTON, La. - Erica Smith scored 28 points as the fifth-seeded Lady Techsters defeated Pepperdine. Louisiana Tech (30-2) will play Ohio State (22-9) in the second round Tuesday.
