Steve Sunderland, professor of social work at the University of Cincinnati, has found a way to literally draw out feelings of grief, fear, anger and frustration about the war in Iraq - posters.
Sunderland's Posters 4 Peace project began two years ago to help people heal following the riots. That initiative expanded into the Peace Village, which promotes peace through a variety of programs, including vigils, discussions and prayer.
"I expect it will expand even more following the war," he said.
So far, about 250 students from McAuley High School have made posters relating to the concepts of peace. About 120 Roger Bacon High School students have created cardboard canvases about hunger and homelessness.
Some of the artwork is on display at 4129 Georgia Ave. in Northside. For information on upcoming programs, call 542-4709.
