From staff reports

Delta ranked eighth for on-time arrivals

Delta Air Lines was eighth among the nation's 17 largest carriers when it came to arriving within 15 minutes of schedule in February, the federal government said Tuesday.

The Atlanta-based company, which operates its second-largest hub locally, was on time 77.3 percent of the time during the month for its entire system. Several regional airlines have gotten large enough to add to the monthly air delay list, which had previously included only 10 or 11 carriers.

Delta's Erlanger-based regional subsidiary Comair did not make the list this time, but still reported an on-time rate of 60.1 percent systemwide, the effect of several snowstorms locally.

The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the nation's 21st busiest facility, ranked 25th out of the nation's 31 largest airports with an on-time departure rate in February of 68.1 percent. That rate also was affected by snow and other bad weather. The on-time arrival rate was 62.3 percent, which ranked 26th nationally.

Union president wants to meet with Cintas

The president of the national union trying to organize Cintas Corp. employees Tuesday called for a meeting with top officers of the uniform company to discuss a "fair process'' for employees who want to join the union.

Bruce Raynor, president of UNITE, Union of Needletrades, Industrial & Textile Employees, in a letter to Cintas chairman Richard Farmer and CEO Robert Kohlhepp, said, "As the largest uniform company in North America, Cintas should be the industry leader when it comes to fair and just treatment of your employees."

A company spokesman said she wasn't aware that the company has received the letter but added the company's position remains that union representation is something for each employee to decide.
