The Walrus says he will be Krogering
The Enquirer and wire reports
Craig Stadler, former Masters champion and 12-time PGA Tour winner, has committed to play in the Kroger Classic Sept. 1-7 at the Arnold Palmer-designed Tournament Players Club at River's Bend in Maineville.
"The Walrus" will turn 50 June 2 and qualify to compete on the Champions Tour.
"Judging by his years on the regular tour, he will be a huge crowd favorite here," tournament director Margie French said.
Stadler won the 1982 Masters despite shooting a 75 in the opening round. He also has won a Tour Players Championship.
"I'm excited about joining the Champions Tour and seeing a lot of my friends, but more than that I can't wait to play in Cincinnati at Arnold's new course," Stadler said. "I feel young again."
Weekly badges are on sale at tourney headquarters (1-800-883-6538) or online (www.krogerclassic.com) . Daily tickets go on sale in July.
