Wolves defeat Ducks
Steve Maltais scored two goals and Derek MacKenzie added a goal and an assist to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Friday at Cincinnati Gardens.
Brad Tapper also scored for the Wolves, who are unbeaten in their last 10 (9-0-1-0). Simon Gamache chipped in with a pair of assists.
Former Cincinnati Cyclone Frederic Cassivi stopped 38 shots for the win. Cory Pecker and Ben Guite scored for Cincinnati, which lost for the sixth time in seven games. The Ducks play their final home game of the season at 7:35 p.m. today against Cleveland.

DUCKS NOTE: Cincinnati signed Sacred Heart University senior goaltender Eddy Ferhi, a native of France, to a pro tryout contract for the remainder of the season. Ferhi, 23, was the 2002-03 MAAC co-goaltender of the year. The 6-foot-3, 197-pounder led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in goals-against average (2.10) and save percentage (.922) while going 12-11-5 with three shutouts in 29 games.
Ferhi finished his career at Sacred Heart with a 2.63 goals-against average, the best in the school history. His 36 wins are tied for first all-time, and his 88 games played is the second highest total.
ECHL CYCLONES: The playoff series between Cincinnati and Peoria is tied 1-1, and shifts to U.S. Bank Arena for Games 3 and 4 at 7:05 p.m. today and Sunday.
COLLEGES: Merrimack goalie Joe Exter, who suffered a severe head injury during a game last month, went home to Cranston, R.I., after a month in two hospitals.
