LOUISVILLE - Candidates running for the Democratic nomination for governor of Kentucky debated over topics from campaign contributions to leadership in a time of state budget woes.
The 90-minute debate at the University of Louisville attracted two gubernatorial candidates - Louisville entrepreneur Bruce Lunsford and Kentucky House Speaker Jody Richards - and Attorney General Ben Chandler's running mate, Charlie Owen, a Louisville businessman.
Lunsford, a multimillionaire, said his experience in business and his wealth have allowed him to avoid special interest donations.
"I want to talk about how we can create jobs," Richards said, adding a pledge that he will not run a negative campaign.
Owen, standing in for Chandler who had another engagement, said Chandler has removed 31 officials from office of both political parties.
