SPRINGFIELD TWP. - Four first-graders from Delshire Elementary Schoolin Delhi Township were taken to a hospital as a precaution Friday morning after two school buses en route to a field trip were involved in a collision on the Ronald Reagan Highway.
The students were treated at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and released, a hospital spokesman said.
The accident also sent Lewis Rosin, 65, of Blue Ash to Jewish Hospital in Kenwood, where he was treated and released.
The driver of an Oak Hills Local School District bus struck the rear of Rosin's 2003 Ford Thunderbird on the West Galbraith Road exit ramp about 9:50 a.m., Springfield Township police said.
The collision caused the driver of a second Oak Hills bus following the first to slam on its brakes. One girl on the first bus hit her nose and three children on the second bus hit padded seats in front of them.
The driver of the first bus, whose name was not released, was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance.
About 80 first-graders were on the two buses, which were not damaged and continued on the trip.
