Wizards eliminated

By The Associated Press

MIAMI - Michael Jordan's career will end without a postseason run. Jordan scored 25 points, tormenting Pat Riley for the final time, as the Washington Wizards beat the Miami Heat 91-87 Friday night. But Milwaukee and Orlando also won, eliminating the Wizards from the playoffs with three games remaining.

Jordan needed just 17 points to retain the all-time scoring average lead over Wilt Chamberlain. Jordan has averaged 30.2 to Chamberlain's 30.1.

Caron Butler led the Heat with 19 points and eight assists. Miami trailed by four points with 5.6 seconds to play, but LaPhonso Ellis' 3-pointer was short.

Bucks 105, Raptors 103

TORONTO - Toni Kukoc scored 25 points, and the Milwaukee Bucks clinched a playoff spot with a win over Toronto.

Toronto's Alvin Williams missed two chances to send the game into overtime in the final 10 seconds. On the first, he was fouled by Gary Payton on a drive to the basket with 6.3 seconds left in the game, but he made only one of two free throws to cut Milwaukee's lead to 104-103.

Williams had one final opportunity, after Tim Thomas missed one of his free throws with 5.6 seconds left, but he missed a layup. Jerome Williams grabbed the rebound and powered down a dunk which would have tied the game, but it came after the buzzer. The officials used video replay and the play stood.

Hawks 109, Cavaliers 89

ATLANTA - Six different players scored during Atlanta's 26-0 run in the first quarter, and the Hawks went on to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs have lost 20 straight on the road and fell to 15-64 overall.

Dion Glover had 20 points, and Theo Ratliff and Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 17 apiece in only three quarters as the Hawks put all five starters in double figures for the second straight game.

Reserve guard Tierre Brown had season highs with 15 points and 30 minutes for Cleveland, and Ricky Davis and Jumaine Jones had 13 apiece.

Magic 98, Pacers 86

INDIANAPOLIS - Tracy McGrady scored 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading the Orlando Magic to their third straight playoff berth.

The Magic turned the game around in the third, going on a 14-4 run to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish. They let the Pacers pull within one midway through the fourth, but Pat Garrity hit a jumper and a 3-pointer to push the lead back to six.

Another 3-pointer by Garrity, who finished with 11 points, made it 86-75 and the Magic cruised from there. They finished the series 1-2 against the Pacers.

Jermaine O'Neal led the Pacers with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Knicks 108, 76ers 103

NEW YORK - Allan Houston scored 25 points, and Howard Eisley added 18 as the New York Knicks beat Philadelphia.

Latrell Sprewell played tough defense on 76ers guard Allen Iverson and had eight of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead New York down the stretch.

Iverson had 20 points and 11 assists for Philadelphia, which had won two straight.

Grizzlies 96, Trail Blazers 93

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Stromile Swift and Pau Gasol led five Memphis players in double figures, and the Grizzlies rallied from a 20-point deficit to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 96-93 Friday night.

Swift had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Gasol had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Grizzlies overcame career bests of 31 points and 20 rebounds by Portland's Zach Randolph.

Jason Williams added 15 points and 12 assists, and Wesley Person and Shane Battier had 13 points each for the Grizzlies.

Timberwolves 106, Clippers 90

MINNEAPOLIS - Kevin Garnett had his typical 24 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Wally Szczerbiak added 19 points for Minnesota, which had lost five of its last seven and is fighting Portland and the Los Angeles Lakers for fourth place in the Western Conference playoffs.

Elton Brand had 20 points, and Corey Maggette 18 for the Clippers, who began a back-and-forth second half with an 18-12 run that cut the Wolves' lead to 61-58.

Bulls 95, Nets 86

CHICAGO - Jamal Crawford and Jay Williams came up big in their first start together, combining for 33 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds.

Crawford scored 19 points and had seven assists and six rebounds. Williams, who missed part of the fourth quarter to get stitches after taking an elbow from Kenyon Martin, had 14 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Eddy Curry added 24 points and five rebounds for the Bulls, who have won 14 of their last 15 at home.

Jason Kidd had 11 points and 12 assists, and Martin had 29 points and eight rebounds for New Jersey.
