NEWPORT - The 10th Street overpass was closed for several hours Thursday after a train hit it from below near Park Avenue.
About 6 p.m., police reopened one lane in each direction on the overpass.
Investigators continued to check structural damage after a train hit support beams earlier in the day.
Newport police recommended that drivers headed north on Interstate 471 use the Grand Avenue or Ky. 8 exits. All intra-city traffic, they said, should consider using U.S. 27 and Carothers Road as a detour for eastbound 10th Street.
ARTIMIS reported no problems or delays Thursday night along I-471.
CSX will determine how much damage occurred and when the overpass can fully reopen.
