Cincinnati Flower Show winners



"Fellowship of the Shire," a whimsical display featuring a hobbit's house, earned Delhi Landscape Service and Flower & Garden Center the top prize of the Cincinnati Flower Show.

The exhibit was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Silver Gilt Flora Medal Award for "best floral display in the main horticultural pavilion."

Other flower show award winners:

• Bole Memorial Gold Medal: Brennan's Orchids.

• Bole Memorial Silver Medal: Cincinnati Cactus and Succulent Society.

• American Horticultural Society Award: A.J. Rahn Greenhouse for "Ohio's Beautiful Heritage."

• Chicago Horticultural Society Medal: Delhi for "The Gaffer's Garden."

• Mayor's Award in Amateur Category: Bonsia Society of Greater Cincinnati.

• Governor's Award in Professional Category: Pam Scapes for "Transcending Pearls."

• Cincinnati Horticultural Society Award (professional): A.J. Rahn for "Ohio's Beautiful Heritage."

• Cincinnati Horticultural Society Award (amateur): John Schultz.

• Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Distinguished Garden Award: Delhi for "Fellowship of the Shire."

• Janet Meakin Poor Award: Abbotswood Ltd. for "An Invitation to Dine Al Fresco ... on the Lower Terrace at Mulberry."

Country Living Gardener Award: Abbotswood Ltd (see above).

• Cincinnati Park Department Award: Perrino Landscape for "Time ... Will You Not Stay?"

• Provident Bank Award: Campbell County Cooperative Extension Services for "Gardening Within Your Reach."

The Cincinnati Enquirer Award (Best of Show in Dramatic Table Settings): Melissa Share and Mary Nebergall of Voltage for "Viva Italia!"

• Molly Klinedinst Award (novice exhibitor in Dramatic Table Settings who receives gold or silver medal): Janazyn Glascock and Melinda Mueller of Sterling Cut Glass for "Moonlight Interlude."

• Cincinnati Flower Growers Association Award (Best of Show in Window Boxes): Jayna Reckers for "Extraordinary Plants."

• WKRC-12 Crystal Star Award (Best of Show in Container Gardens): Susan Elsbrock of Gardenstone Concepts for "Treasure Troughs."

• Provident Bank Award (Container Gardens): Karen McMullen of Loveland Greenhouse for "Babette's Feast."

• Waterford Crystal Award for Dramatic Table Settings: Leslie Chapman and Kevin Ford of Le Mistral Ltd. for "Dinner with Vincent and Theo ... Cafe de la Gare, Arles."

• Waterford Crystal Award (Best of Show/Overall in Professional Floristry): Jeanie Hodges of Kreutzer & Dorl Florists for "Orange Blossom Lattice."

• Frances Jones Poetker Award (Best of Show/Creativity and Application in Professional Floristry): Hodges for "Orange Blossom Lattice."

• Irine Leininger Perpetual Award (Best New Exhibitor): Maryan Hahn of the Flower Girls for "Hail Britannia."

• Professional Florists of Greater Cincinnati Award: Amy Montgomery of H.J. Benken Florist & Greenhouse for "Sublimity of Peace and War."

• Judges Award of Merit in Professional Floristry: Barbara Scott of Kreutzer and Dorl Florists.

• Award of Excellence: Charmin Wildflower Fragrance Pavilion.
