Stock Market Game

Springboro High students lead with portfolio up 81%

Congratulations to Los Hombres, Kevin Flora and Eddie Welch. Having turned a mock $100,000 into $181,015, the Springboro High School sophomores are the apparent winners of the Stock Market Game.

The final standings are tentative, but Michael Rado's business students lead classmates on team MilBar by almost $14,400. And with their remaining holdings, Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines, rising to recent highs Friday, Los Hombres is practically guaranteed to win.

Final portfolio sizes are calculated overnight to account for closing prices, interest and margin costs - so see Cincinnati.com, keyword stocks, this afternoon for final standings.

Liberty Junior High's team 18 is also likely to hold its lead to win the middle school division. The team's key holding, mattress company Select Comfort Corp., gained 18.8 percent from last week to Thursday, and was still rising Friday.

Like his high school counterparts, Mike Salemme cemented his lead in the adult division with Delta. The carrier's stock gained another 5.8 percent from last week to Thursday.
