The Kentucky Enquirer publishes obituaries of residents in Boone, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton and Pendleton counties as a free service. Boone County

Roger W. Shrout

FLORENCE - Roger W. Shrout, 65, a retired employee for AT&T, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He also was an employee of Avis and an Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Kay; a son, Tim of Florence; a daughter, Kim Reisenbeck of Crittenden; a brother, Dan of Columbus; a sister, Donna Berger of Crestview Hills; and five grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday. Service will be 10 a.m. today at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Campbell County

Margaret E. Bouchy

DAYTON - Margaret Ellen Bouchy, 96, a homemaker, died Tuesday at Arbors at Milford Subacute and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a member of the Dayton Homemakers Club for 50 years, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1976.

Surviving are a son, Jean of Williamsburg, Ohio; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. and service 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. A.C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

Ruth E. Ferguson

DAYTON - Ruth E. Patterson Ferguson, 85, a retired employee for the Kroger Co. who worked in the meat department at several store locations, died Wednesday at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. After her retirement, she was a volunteer for the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Dayton.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Liska.

Surviving are her husband, Howard; two sons, Bob of Erlanger and Howard Jr. of Ross, Ohio; two daughters, Lillian Ferguson of Bellevue and Connie Steward of Cold Spring; a sister, Millie Hollowell of Flora, Ind.; two brothers, Jim Patterson of Milroy, Ind., and Tobe Patterson of Carthage, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and service 1 p.m. today at A.C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Loretta B. Ling

FORT THOMAS - Loretta B. Ling, 88, retired owner and operator of Ling's Bakery in Dayton, died Wednesday at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas. She was a member of the Over 55 Club at St. Bernard Church in Dayton and of the Dayton and Fort Thomas homemaker clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 1989.

Surviving are a daughter, Flora Woellert of Cincinnati; a son, Jerry of Fort Thomas; nine grandchildren; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. and Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Church, Dayton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home in Fort Thomas is handling arrangements.

Virginia Schulte

FORT THOMAS - Virginia Paine Schulte, 86, a homemaker, died Tuesday at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent, in 1970.

Surviving are a son, Vincent of Covington; seven daughters, June Schaber of Port Charlotte, Fla., Nancy Meyer of Edgewood, Vicki Vater of Butler, Ky., Pamm Taylor of Florence, Christine Lohbeck of Fort Thomas, Faye Davis of Jacksonville, Fla. and Holly Stetter of Cincinnati; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today and service 11 a.m. Saturday at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.

Kenton County

Charles S. Beighle

ERLANGER - Charles Samuel "Sam" Beighle, 87, former owner of Beighle Brothers, a grocery in Piner, and the former owner of IGA stores in Walton, Dry Ridge, Carrollton, and Owenton, Ky., died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

He was a charter member of the International Grocery Association (IGA), and was a member of Gardnersville Baptist Church and of Wilmington Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Martha J. Westerkamp Beighle; a daughter, Joan K. Smith of Union; a sister, Elsie Ervin of Crittenden; four brothers, Ed of Williamstown, Paul of Verona, Truett of Florence and Monty of Crittenden; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Service with burial to follow will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, Erlanger.

James E. Crowell

ERLANGER - James Earl Crowell, 78, Kenton County sheriff from 1978-82, and a deputy sheriff for Kenton County for 16 years, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Covington.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, and was fire chief of the Elsmere Volunteer Fire Department during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was a member of the volunteer fire department since returning from World War II. He was also an employee for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 25 years.

Surviving are his wife, Antoinette Crowell; two sons, David Crowell of Erlanger and Johnny Evens of California, Ky.; two daughters, Bridget Williams of Radcliff, Ky., and Stacy Fisher of Monterey, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Brendel of Elsmere and Carolyn Dugan of Florence; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday. Service will be 11 a.m. today at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger.

Jimmy D. Harris

ERLANGER - Jimmy David Harris, 63, a former plant manager for Citrus Belle in St. Petersburg, Fla., died April 29 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

Surviving are his wife, Maria; two sons, Dwayne and Eddie, both of Louisville; two daughters, Rhonda Porter and Missy Harris, both of Louisville; a brother, Douglas of Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters, Maryanne Stewart of Nashville, Tenn. and Betty Ruth Newman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial service and burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home in Ludlow is handling arrangements.

Ruby Tarter

ERLANGER - Ruby Tarter, 77, a retired assistant manager and collector in the loan department for the former Beneficial Financial Co. on Mall Road in Florence, died Tuesday at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. She was also a former collector for the Monmouth Jewelry Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, and a son, William Collins.

Surviving is a son, Michael Collins of Dayton, Ky.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and service 1 p.m. today at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.

Ella Koenig

FORT WRIGHT - Ella "Pat" Koenig, 97, a homemaker, died Tuesday at her residence in Greystone Communities in Cincinnati.

Surviving are a son, Mark of Park Hills; a daughter, Kathleen C. Edwards of Cincinnati; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

No visitation. Requiem Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother of God Mausoleum Chapel at Madison and Latonia avenues in Fort Wright.

Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger is handling arrangements.

Henrietta Roetker

FORT WRIGHT - Henrietta Klefken Roetker, 87, a personnel supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Covington for 25 years, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

She was a member of St. Benedict Church in Covington, and of the Fort Wright Leisure Timers. She was a volunteer for the "Pink Ladies" at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Covington.

Surviving are a son, Bruce of Florence; a sister, Betty Ryan of Walton; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. and Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Church in Covington. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

James Stepp Jr.

INDEPENDENCE - James Stepp Jr., 78, a retired employee for Interlake Steel, and a member and former deacon of Community Pentecostal Church of God in Independence, died Wednesday at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Emma "Jean" Wolfinbarger Stepp of Independence; three daughters, Linda Stepp, Connie Robbins and Jackie Foote, all of Independence; four sisters, Arlene Marrs of Cincinnati, Minnie White of Hamilton, Mattie Magee of Irvine, Ky. and Rose Fields of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today and service 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Pentecostal Church of God in Independence. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

Larry C. West

LAKESIDE PARK - Larry C. West, 69, a partner in the law firm of Ware, Bryson, West & Kummer in Edgewood, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He was a member of Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, the American Bar Association and the Kentucky Bar Association.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Mai West; two sons, Chuck of Union and Jim of Edgewood; a daughter, Nancy Romer of Edgewood; a brother, Robert of Crestview Hills; two stepdaughters, Stephanie and Jennifer Vocke, both of Lakeside Park; two stepsons, Robert and Ross Vocke, both of Lakeside Park; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and service 10 a.m. Saturday at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, 2323 Dixie Highway. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger. Swindler & Currin Funeral Home in Latonia is handling arrangements.

Edna Gibson

LUDLOW - Edna Gibson, 84, a homemaker, and former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, died Saturday at Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1993.

Surviving are three sons, Jerry of Covington, Richard of Georgetown, Ohio and Terry of Elsmere; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Stith Funeral Home in Florence is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Sr. Mary Gerold S.N.D.

PARK HILLS - Sister Mary Gerold (Wilz), 88, a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame for 64 years, died Monday at St. Joseph Heights in Park Hills.

After graduating from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, she was a nurse for many years at St. Charles Care Center in Covington, Lourdes Hall at St. Joseph Heights in Park Hills and at Notre Dame Hospital in Lynch, Ky. She also taught in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for 13 years and spent five years visiting the sick and elderly at St. Monica Parish in Bardstown, Ky.

Surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth Haas of West Chester, Philomena Matz of Hartwell and Cecilia Vonderhaar of Sharonville.

Services were held Thursday at St. Joseph Heights in Park Hills. Burial will be 9:30 a.m. today in the convent cemetery in Park Hills. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Covington is handling arrangements.
