Medical service abuse study proposed

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Cincinnati Councilman Pat DeWine wants to know how much the city's "You call, we haul" policy is costing the city - in money and in human lives.

DeWine, responding to a report in The Cincinnati Enquirer Sunday, said he wants the city administration to look at ambulance policies, billing practices and dispatch procedures to curb abuses of the city's emergency medical services.

"Our resources are strained by too many calls, and by people who are using our EMS service as a taxi service," DeWine said. DeWine, chairman of the Law & Public Safety Committee, scheduled a June 3 public hearing on the issue.
