Get to It

A guide to help make your day

Going out

Kevin James: The star of the CBS hit comedy King of Queens goes for laughs with his "Sweat the Small Stuff" stand-up act at the Taft Theatre. 7:30 p.m. today, Fifth and Sycamore streets, downtown, $35.50-$40.50. 562-4949.

Arts jam: The Great Miami Arts Jam is an afternoon session full of interactive classical music activities, hands-on art workshops and performances for all ages, Noon-4 p.m. today, Fitton Center for Creative Arts, 101 S. Monument Ave., Hamilton, free. 863-8873.

New exhibit: Miller Gallery opens a new show of paintings and sculpture called The Horse Show - equine-themed works by esteemed painter Melissa Hefferlin, bronze artist Claudio Nicoli, sandstone worker Daryl Johns and others. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. today, 2715 Erie Ave., Hyde Park. 871-4420.

Antiques: There are hundreds of dealers with hundreds of goodies - old goodies, mind you - at the Burlington Antique Show, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. today, Boone County Fairgrounds, Ky. 338, five miles west of Florence Mall, $3. 922-5265.

On TV

Top pick: Andrew Firestone, ABC's The Bachelor, is down to one rose and two ladies, Jennifer, 26, from Chicago, and Kirsten, 23, from Valrico, Fla. Will he propose? Will she accept? Find out on the two-hour season finale (9 p.m., Channels 9, 2).

• Critic John Kiesewetter also says Fox ends the season with back-to-back original episodes of The Simpsons (8 p.m., Channels 19, 45), when Bart and Milhouse wage a gang war and bartender Moe becomes Maggie's baby sitter, and two new Malcolm in the Middles (9 p.m.), when Lois has her baby. And American Dreams ends the season with Philadelphia race riots (8 p.m., Channels 5, 22).

The goods

Cool dogs: Don't you just love sitting under the big picnic umbrella, sipping a frozen cocktail in the good old summertime? Right. But what about your dog? The umbrella part, we mean, not the cocktail. Try the PetBrella, a completely portable 6-foot-diameter shade umbrella in three colors. It comes complete with a tilt mechanism so you can follow the sun, a steel tie-out stake and a design that makes it easy to pull up and move elsewhere for picnics and vacations and stuff. It's $39.99-$49.99 at Petland and www.molor.com.

Planning ahead

24 hours out: Best-selling suspense author John Gilstrap is here to introduce his new thriller-mystery Scott Free. 7 p.m. Monday, Barnes & Noble, Newport on the Levee. (859) 581-2000.

48 hours out: The 17-piece Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra tunes up for an 8 p.m.-midnight Tuesday gig at the Havana Martini Club. 580 Walnut St., downtown, $3. 651-2800.

72 hours till Wednesday: UniverSoul Circus begins five days under the big top at Jordan's Crossing with international circus acts, soul-blues-hip-hop sounds and a hand-clapping revival style led by star ringmaster Shuckey Duckey. 7:30 p.m., Reading Road and Seymour Avenue, Roselawn, $16.50-$45. 562-4949.
