Cheers for squad

Mason High School junior varsity and varsity cheerleaders earned fourth place at the Universal Cheerleading Association Nationals competition at Walt Disney World.

The cheerleaders are: Jordi Wilhelm, Mandy Wilson, Diana Mills, Cory Malich, Joanie Metzger, Jenny Haar, Leah George, Whitney Shanklin, Jasmine Woodard, Kimberly Rogers, Natalie Theis, Natalie Bertalino, Elizabeth Bertalino, Rebecca Spaeth, Shaina Taylor, Bridget Herman, Kayrn Toth and Jenny Holden.

Awarded medal

Colerain Township Police Officer Joe Hendricks was presented with the Medal of Valor from the Colerain Township Police Department. He was cited for bravery in an unsuccessful effort to rescue a fire victim in North College Hill in February.

Future cadet

Brandon Pasko, a senior at Lakota West High School, has received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the concert band. He volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and Reach Out Lakota.

Brandon is the son of Jackie and Wayne Pasko of West Chester Township.
