Smart Mouth

You heard it here first

Just In

Marinating meat or chicken before throwing it on the grill is not easy enough, evidently. Consumer research, which shows folks are just too tired to whisk up marinades, convinced Heinz to introduce the EZ Marinader - a sealable plastic bag with the marinade already inside. All you have to do is add 2 to 3 pounds of meat, poultry or vegetables. Let it sit 30 minutes or longer, remove the food and toss the bag. EZ Marinader is available in three flavors - Jack Daniel's Mesquite, Classico Garlic and Herb and Mr. Yoshida's Teriyaki. About $2.99 per bag.

Market Scan

Catch wild Copper River salmon while you can. Considered by many to be the most flavorful salmon, the fish is caught in Alaska's Copper River only from about mid-May to mid-June, which explains its high price - from about $19 to $21 per pound. This salmon is also high in Omega-3 oils, believed to help prevent heart disease. Cook and serve Copper River salmon simply to appreciate its wonderful flavor. Call fish shops to check price and availability.

Tube Food

Host Alton Brown dishes Clams on the Half Shell with Fresh Mayonnaise, chowder and other clam dishes at 9 p.m. today on the Food Network's Good Eats.

Hot Date

Ready for summer fruit season? Dottie Overman begins a series of "Hands-On Pies" classes at 6 p.m. June 12 at Dorothy Lane Market in Dayton. Other pie classes are scheduled for June 13, July 16 and July 17. $50. (937) 434-1294.
