There will be two related discussions during the opening weekend of Corpus Christi:
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. today, a panel discussion on the topic of arts censorship, "Censornaughti, Oh!: a Forum for Freedom of Artistic Expression," will continue at Gabriel's Corner until 7 p.m.
Participants include Corpus Christi director Michael Burnham; Northern Kentucky University gallery director David Knight; Cincinnati photographer Thomas Condon, convicted for photographing corpses at the Hamilton County Morgue; and Eleanor Heartney, co-president of the International Art Critics Association.
Moderator William Messer, founder of the Campaign Against Censorship in the Arts, says, "I'm hoping enough people will come and buy tickets to the performance that we'll pack the theater with informed people and have a sell-out." Information: 221-3686.
From noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, a discussion of "Cincinnati: a Focal Point of Art Censorship Debates/What Does the First Amendment Protect?" will be led by Svetlana Mintcheva, Arts Advocacy Project coordinator, and H. Louis Sirkin, First Amendment trial attorney, at Playhouse in the Park.
The discussion at Playhouse is part of the free art project, My Daily Constitution - Cincinnati, held at several locations and arranged by Los Angeles artist Linda Pollack, who considers the conversations "an inter-disciplinary art work." Information: 557-7315.
