After his arrest for abducting and raping an Anderson Township woman, convicted sex offender Randy Slider told police he knew he'd wind up back in prison.
He had been paroled in 2001 for a previous sexual assault.
A Hamilton County judge made sure of it Thursday, sentencing Slider to 20 years in prison for kidnapping the woman from Anderson Towne Center last October, robbing her and repeatedly raping her.
"This is a despicable act," Common Pleas Judge Melba Marsh told Slider.
"Why not just turn yourself in and say you don't belong in society?" Marsh added.
Slider, 41, of Moscow in Clermont County, pleaded guilty to a charge of kidnapping with specifications, two charges of aggravated robbery and two charges of rape with specifications.
Assistant Prosecutor Jim Butler said Slider "basically terrorized (the victim) for a four- to five-hour period."
In addition to the 20-year sentence, Slider faces another 12 years in prison for violating his parole on previous charges of felonious assault and gross sexual imposition.
According to prosecutors, at 9 p.m. Sept. 30, Slider kidnapped the 44-year-old woman at knifepoint as she left the center's parking lot. He forced her into the passenger seat, handcuffed her and drove her to several ATMs in Northern Kentucky and Hamilton County to make cash withdrawals from her account.
At one point, Slider raped the woman somewhere in downtown Cincinnati.
He released her near Ohio 32 and Eight Mile Road at 1:55 a.m. the next day.
Slider was convicted of felonious assault and gross sexual imposition in Washington County in 1993 and paroled in April 2001 after serving eight years of an 11- to 20-year sentence, state records show. He also is a registered sex offender.
On Sept. 27, 2001, while on parole, Slider was arrested in New Richmond on DUI and several other traffic charges. Because it was his first DUI arrest in at least six years, he received a summons to court and was released. Three days later, he attacked the woman in Anderson Township.
Slider told police he knew it was likely he would return to prison for violating his parole.
"That's when he went crazy. He tried to feed his fantasy before he went back," Washington County Sheriff's Detective Jeff Seevers said after Slider's arrest on the rape charges.
