WILLIAMSBURG TWP. - One person was killed and three others were seriously injured early Friday following a two-car collision along Ohio 133 near Ohio 32 in Clermont County.
Dead is John C. Hall, 34, of Winchester, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Hall was the driver of a Monte Carlo carrying Robert T. Jodrey, 27, and Barry Wallingford, 37, both of Ripley.
Jodrey and Wallingford were severely injured and were admitted to University Hospital, officials said, adding that Jodrey is in serious condition and Wallingford is in critical condition. The driver of the second car, an Escort, Jerry C. McQueary, 39, of Felicity, is also in serious condition at University Hospital, officials said.
The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. as McQueary, who had been driving south on Ohio 133, approached the exit ramp to westbound Ohio 32. Investigators said that as the Escort reached the ramp, the Monte Carlo attempted to make a turn onto northbound Ohio 133.
Emergency personnel pronounced Hall dead at the scene.
Officials said McQueary, Hall and Jodrey were wearing seat belts. It is unknown if Wallingford wore a seat belt. Preliminary investigations determined that the driver of the Monte Carlo was at fault, officials said, and alcohol was not a factor.
