Cincinnati
RIVERFRONT: An "All-American Birthday" celebration will take place 3-10:45 p.m. Friday at Sawyer Point. The free event includes games; live entertainment by Blue Oyster Cult and The Orchestra; and a classic car cruise-in. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.
RIVERFRONT: From 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, visitors to Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park on Eastern Avenue are invited to create a mosaic tile for inclusion in the public art project "Clay, Color and Fire." The mosaic will appear alongside seven panels created by artists from seven Cincinnati sister cities. Panels will be installed on the exterior and interior columns of the new Friendship Pavilion. HYDE PARK: The 4-mile Hyde Park Blast 2003 will begin for runners at 7:30 a.m. Friday in Hyde Park Square, and for walkers at 7:45 a.m. Hot line: 533-9774.
HYDE PARK: A patriotic music concert will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday at Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, Observatory and Grace avenues. The church's Cathedral and Wesley choirs, with the Sunshine Singers, will be accompanied by a brass and percussion ensemble, and Sonia Kim, an international organ competition semifinalist. Rep. Rob Portman of Terrace Park will present a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol.
MOUNT AUBURN: The William Howard Taft National Historic Site, 2038 Auburn Ave., will host an ice cream social and band concert by The Swanks Quartet 1-4 p.m. Friday. All activities, including tours of the home and special exhibits in the Taft Education Center, are free. Information: 684-3262 or www.nps.gov/wiho.
MOUNT LOOKOUT: The Hyde Park Neighborhood Council and Cincinnati Parks will host a program Friday in Ault Park that includes a Family Fitness Walk at 9 a.m. and a children's bike parade at 10:30 a.m. Evening activities begin at 6 p.m. Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. Information: 956-9876.
Hamilton County
EVENDALE: Doors will open at 2 p.m. Saturday for Freedom Fest 2003 at Landmark Baptist Temple, 1600 Glendale-Milford Road. Concerts begin at 3 p.m. Admission to the concerts is free, but there is a fee for food, rides and games. A fireworks display will take place at 10 p.m. Information: www.freedomfest.us or 771-0960.
GREEN TOWNSHIP: Two concerts and fireworks will take place Thursday at Kuliga Park, 6717 Bridgetown Road. Saffire Express performs at 6 p.m. and again at 10:45 p.m. The UC Community Concert Band performs 8:30-10:30 p.m. and will accompany the fireworks display that begins at dark. Hot line: 598-3089.
MONTGOMERY: The Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Montgomery Park. Rain location for the concert is St. Barnabas Church Auditorium, 10345 Montgomery Road. Friday, a parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Sycamore Junior High School and march to Montgomery Park. A Festival in the Park will be noon to 4 p.m., entertainment provided by the Blue Chip Jazz Band 1-3 p.m. and the Kevin Fox Band noon to 4 p.m.
SPRINGDALE: The 11th annual Spirit of Springdale will be held 5 p.m. to midnight Thursday and Friday at the Springdale Community Center complex, 11999 Lawnview Ave. A parade will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Tri-View Office Towers. Fireworks will be at 10 p.m. Information: 346-3910.
Butler County
FAIRFIELD: The Red, White & Kaboom fireworks display will be launched from Harbin Park, 1300 Hunter Road, at 10 p.m. Thursday. Harbin Park and Village Green Park will feature live musical performances and the Wind Riders Sky Diving Troop. At the Fairfield Aquatic Center, the annual fireworks swim program will be conducted 8-10 p.m. Information: 867-5348 or www.fairfield-city.org.
HAMILTON: The Bells on Independence Parade begins at 10 a.m. Friday. The parade forms on Fair Avenue and ends at the Butler County Courthouse. HAMILTON: The 122nd Army National Guard Band will present a free patriotic concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the amphitheatre at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum, 1763 Hamilton-Cleves Road (Ohio 128). No admission will be charged to the park after 6 p.m. Information: 868-8336.
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP: The annual parade assembles at the Lakota East Junior School at 10 a.m. Friday. The parade will end at Lakota East High School where Butler County's bicentennial bell casting will take place. Other activities on Friday and Saturday include performances by Civil War re-enactors, the West Chester Symphony, and Ooh La La and the Greasers. A car show will be Saturday. Information: 777-1189.
ROSS: Admission is free on Friday to Stricker's Grove, 11490 Hamilton-Cleves Road. The park opens at 3 p.m. Ride tickets will be available for purchase. A fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. Information: 521-9747.
Warren County
DEERFIELD TWP.: A Family Fun Fest will be held 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Cottell Park, 5847 Irwin Simpson Road. Included in the day's activities are a Red, White and Blue bike parade, games, contests and refreshment booths. Information: 683-5805, ext. 250.
MASON: Red, Rhythm & Boom will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Pine Hill Lakes Park. Live entertainment will be provided by the group Hot Wax at 6:30 p.m. Face painting, wall climbing and other activities will take place from 6 p.m. until dark. Davy Jones is the headline performer at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.
MASON: Paramount's Kings Island will celebrate with fireworks at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Information: 754-5700 or www.pki.com.
Indiana
RICHMOND: A parade led by American Legion Post 65 will begin at 2 p.m. at the Freedom Fountain at the Richmond City Building and march to Glen Miller Park on U.S. 40. A skydiving performance will precede the fireworks display at dark. Information: (765) 939-9171.
