To find their suspect, police followed the moans.
A man they say dove through a window in a downtown Cincinnati apartment Thursday afternoon to steal laptops and other items ended up in University Hospital with a possible broken hip.
Escaping from the Plum Street building, the man fell into a 10-foot-deep divide between the building and a parking lot.
Officers found him because someone called 911 to report they heard moaning.
Police said the suspect had been investigated a year ago for a string of break-ins and was sentenced to prison in September 2002.
