Storms halt play in No. Kentucky golf tournament
CALIFORNIA, Ky. - The 16 golfers still participating in the Northern Kentucky Men's Amateur tournament were scheduled to resume play at 8 a.m. today at Flagg Springs Golf Course after thunderstorms forced activities to be suspended Thursday afternoon.
The eight first-flight golfers finished their 18-hole rounds Thursday. But the eight second-flight golfers hadn't finished their 18-hole rounds and the eight championship-flight golfers were in the middle of their second 18-hole round when heavy rains forced them to stop. They waited about an hour before play was suspended at 2:30 p.m.
Tim Hartig won the first-flight championship with a 2-under-par 69 on the 6,120-yard course. Former overall champion Lance Lucas shot a 1-over 72 to lead defending champion Rob Clarke and two others by one stroke after the first of the two 18-hole championship-flight rounds.
