CLEVELAND - A worker jumped into a construction machine and chased a driver now charged with crashing through orange barrels on a highway and injuring two men on Interstate 480 about 4 a.m. Thursday.
"We had two construction workers lying there hurt," said Don Shantz, who found the motorist pulled over about a mile away with a flat tire. "I just didn't want the guy to get away."
David Rogers, 44, was charged Friday with aggravated vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
Rogers was a weatherman at WKYC-TV in Cleveland for three years until 2000 and now works at WCBS in New York City.
One of the construction workers, Brad Davis, 20, of Norwalk, was in critical but stable condition Friday at MetroHealth Medical Center. The other, Jeremy Prelipp, 25, of Willard, was treated and released.
