Boone County

Larry M. Jones Sr.

FLORENCE - Larry Michael Michael Jones Sr., 54, former police chief for the city of Fort Mitchell for nine years, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital in Florence.

He was a police officer for Fort Mitchell for six years prior to becoming chief, and was a Vietnam War Marine veteran who served two tours of duty. He was a member of the Northern Kentucky Police Chiefs Association.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Davenport Jones; a son, Larry Jr. of Florence; two daughters, Kimberly DeMoisey of Burlington and Carrie Craddock of Petersburg, Ky.; his mother, Ruby Jones of Tipp City, Ohio; a sister, Melissa Wynkoop of Tipp City, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today and service 11 a.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Memorials: Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.

Campbell County

Harold Gettys Jr.

ALEXANDRIA - Harold Ray Gettys Jr., 69, a serviceman for Cincinnati Gas & Electric for 35 years, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes; two daughters, Sherrie Rae Jett and Sheila Strunk, both of Alexandria; a sister, Sandra Fausy of Alexandria; a brother, David of Alexandria; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and service 10 a.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Memorials: Multiple Sclerosis Society of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky, 4460 Lake Forest Drive, Suite 236, Blue Ash, OH 45241.

William E. Lloyd

ALEXANDRIA - William Earl Lloyd, 65, an employee for Vivi Color Printing in Cincinnati for 29 years, died Sunday at his home.

He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and of the Graphic Communications International Union. He was an Army Reserve veteran and member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Klump Lloyd; a daughter, Lisa Thompson of Alexandria; three sons, Joe of Cold Spring, Mike of Edgewood and Larry of Alexandria; a brother, Don of California, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and prayers 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 17 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home in Fort Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Alexandria.

Mary M. Belew

MELBOURNE - Mary M. Belew, 56, a homemaker, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas.

Surviving are her husband, Ronald; two sons, Brian of Alexandria and Michael of Melbourne, Ky.; two daughters, Krista Belew of Melbourne and Michele Vasko of Amelia, Ohio; six sisters, Charlene Christen and Annamae Lindo, both of Cheviot, Rosie Giar, Dolores Neises and Shirley Neises, all of Melbourne, and Carol Hartig of Cold Spring; four brothers, Don Neises of Alexandria, Gene and Larry Neises, both of California, Ky., and Ron Neises of Melbourne; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 6 p.m. today at St. Philip's Church, 1404 Mary Ingles Highway, Melbourne. Her body will be cremated. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Betty Mae Kruse

NEWPORT - Betty Mae Kruse, 69, formerly of Newport, a homemaker, died Sunday at Norwood Retirement Community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1994; by a daughter, Betty Marie Smith, in 2000; and by a son, David Ray Kruse, in 1965.

Surviving are five sons, Charles of Columbus, John of Ocala, Fla., Richard of Taylor Mill, William of Norwood and Joseph of Covington; three daughters, Katherine Paynter and, Debra Kruse, both of Newport, and Aloha Renee of Hammonds, Pa.; a sister, Darlene Vogel of Newport; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday and service 11 a.m. Friday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home in Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.

Memorials: Norwood Retirement Community, 1500 Sherman Ave., Norwood, OH 45212.

Kenton County

Helen Herrmann

ERLANGER - Helen Peck Herrmann, 79, a retired waitress for the former tearoom at McAlpin's in downtown Cincinnati, and a former court stenographer, died Monday at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 2000, and a son, Jack, in 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane M. Martin of Erlanger and Patricia A. Hermman of Covington; a brother, Jim Peck of Florence; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. and service 2 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Margaret L. Agnew

TAYLOR MILL - Margaret Louise Agnew, 79, a retired department store clerk for Woolworth's, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Covington.

She was a volunteer at Ninth District Elementary School in Covington and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Agnew, in 1978; and two sons, Raymond Downey in 1949, and Roscoe Terry Downey in 1988.

Surviving are two sons, Melvin Downey of Taylor Mill and Jack Agnew of Walton; four daughters, Wanda Chandler of Florence, Charlotte Galambus of St. Augustine, Fla., and Darlene Sanning and Janice Ball, both of Taylor Mill; three brothers, Kenneth Warden of Cold Spring, Henry Warden of New Orleans and Leland Kellam of Dry Ridge; two sisters, Debbie Van Blaricum of Brighton, Mich., and Melba Mastin of Taylor Mill; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday and service 11 a.m. Friday at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home in Latonia. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
