From staff and wire reports

Pomeroy expects earnings boost

Pomeroy IT Solutions Inc. Friday said it expects to exceed second-quarter earnings estimates and will pay a one-time dividend of 80 cents a share Aug. 7 to shareholders of record July 28.

The Hebron-based computer sales and service company said earnings for the three months ended July 5 will be in the range of 15 to 17 cents a share on revenues of $147 million, higher than the 12 cents a share on revenues of $130 million forecast previously. Pomeroy, which recently changed its named from Pomeroy Computer Resources, will report second-quarter results Aug. 13.

Pomeroy's shares closed Friday up $1.25s at $13.85.

Blue Ash printer to cut workforce

Blue Ash printing firm S. Rosenthal & Co. is cutting employment after union employees refused to agree to share higher health benefit costs.

CEO Don Rahilly said the 135-year-old company, which prints TV Guide among other projects, has cut 30 jobs since the start of the month as it transfers work to a nonunion printing plant it operates in Nashville, Tenn.

The Blue Ash plant now employs 150.

Two months ago, the company said it planned to scale back operations because of its inability to negotiate cost-sharing and could eventually close entirely.

Rahilly said the company will eliminate another 25 jobs in the next three months as it moves work to the Tennessee plant.

Honeywell sues to halt purchase

Covington-based Ashland Inc. Friday said Honeywell International Inc. has filed a suit seeking to stop Air Products & Chemicals Inc. from buying an Ashland business.

In late June, Air Products, which makes industrial gases, said it agreed to acquire Ashland's electronic chemicals business for about $300 million.

According to an Ashland filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the suit filed in the Delaware Chancery Court in New Castle County, Del., also alleges breach of strategic alliance agreement between GEM Microelectronic Materials and Air Products.

Ashland said it is reviewing the complaint.
