Campbell jail inmate's suit claims abuse
NEWPORT - A convicted felon claims he was abused at the Campbell County jail after he became an informant in a Northern Kentucky Strike Force investigation into illegal drug use at the facility.
Davon Burke, now housed at the Northpoint Training Center in Burgin, Ky., filed suit in U.S. District Court in Covington on July 18. The suit seeks an unspecified amount of compensatory and punitive damages, plus a jury trial.
Burke, who filed suit without a lawyer, claims a guard told inmates on Nov. 23 that he was a snitch for narcotics agents.
That same day, Burks said, other inmates assaulted him. Burke claims he was later denied food, assaulted by guards and strapped to a chair placed in the courtyard during the cold of winter.
The suit also claims one guard was fired for bringing drugs into the jail as a result of the strike force investigation.
Jail officials couldn't be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
