Two-vehicle crash kills woman, injures 3 others

The Cincinnati Enquirer

WALTON - A 44-year-old woman died and three other people, including a 12-year-old boy, were hospitalized Friday in a two-vehicle accident on Ky. 16.

Tammy Smith of Morning View was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

The 3 p.m. crash occurred when the eastbound vehicle Smith was riding in swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming car traveling west in the eastbound lane.

Two other people in her vehicle, the driver and the 12-year-old, were taken by helicopter to hospitals.

The driver, whose name was not released, was in serious condition late Friday at University Hospital, according to Tina Knapp, a Boone County dispatcher.

The boy was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and suffered a broken arm and a dislocated shoulder, Knapp said.

The driver of the vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road was taken to St. Luke Hospital West and treated for minor injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Further details, including descriptions of the vehicles involved in the crash, were not released.
