Kentucky obituaries



The Kentucky Enquirer publishes obituaries of residents in Boone, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton and Pendleton counties as a free service. Obituaries are published based on available space each day and may be held until space is available. Information is accepted from funeral homes 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Boone County

John W. Kaiser

FLORENCE - John William Kaiser, 68, owner and operator of Lowe-Mar Manufacturing Co., died Wednesday at his home.

A son, John Jr., died in 1997.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Barker Kaiser; five sons, Rick of Goshen, Ohio, Jeff of Warsaw, Ky., Ronald and Dwayne, both of Covington, and James of Cincinnati; three daughters, Bonnie Kaiser and Stacey Scott, both of Elsmere, and Jill Kilby of Florence; 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday. Service will be 10 a.m. today at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Memorials: First Baptist Church of Independence Mission Fund, 11659 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.

Campbell County

Geneva Speakman

DAYTON - Geneva Speakman, 68, a retired assistant for Dayton Public Schools and former member of the Dora Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, died Friday at Northern Kentucky Care & Rehabilitation Center in Highland Heights.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Poe of Dayton, Ky., and Sheila Travis of Indianapolis; four sisters, Carolyn Bowman and Ruth Woods, both of Tomkinsville, Ky., Brown Lorene of Sarasota, Fla., and Nadene Woods of Indianapolis; a brother, Delbert Sheffield of Tompkinsville, Ky., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Ky. A.C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Home in Bellevue is handling arrangements.

Ruth Hacker

FORT THOMAS - Ruth Bearden Hacker, 97, a retired factory worker for the Cin-Made Co., died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas.

She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Highland Heights for 50 years, and of Highland United Methodist Church in Fort Thomas for 25 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Marlene Peterson of Fort Thomas; one grandchild, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. and service 11 a.m. today at A.C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Home in Fort Thomas. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.

Memorials: Highland United Methodist Church, 314 N. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075; or Salvation Army Newport Community Center, 340 W. 10th St., Newport, KY 41071.

Martha J. Davis

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS - Martha Jean Davis, 61, an office manager for the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, died Sunday at Northern Kentucky Care & Rehabilitation Center in Highland Heights.

Surviving are three sisters, Esther Hamblin of Mesa, Ariz., Judy Stumbo of Martin, Ky., and Suzanne Tipton of Springboro, Ohio; two brothers, Don Supinger of Bay City, Mich., and Robert Supinger of West Carrollton, Ohio, and a friend, William Rooney of Highland Heights.

No visitation.

Service will be 11 a.m. today at Alexandria Funeral Home.

Her body was donated to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Jackie Maffey

NEWPORT - Jackie Wayne Maffey, 51, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., a self-employed painter, died Sunday at her home in Myrtle Beach.

Surviving are two sons, Jason and Carl Maffey, both of Felicity, Ohio; her mother, Martha Maffey Perry of Goshen, Ohio; two sisters, Lillian Helton and Sherry Norton, both of Goshen; two brothers, Mike and Robert Maffey, both of Newport; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon today at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home in Newport. Cremation will be at Southwest Ohio Crematory in Milford.

Memorials may be made to Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral to help pay for funeral expenses, 835 York St., Newport, KY 41071.

Catherine A. Laske

COVINGTON - Catherine "Kay" A. Laske, 87, formerly Sr. Mary Immacula, S.N.D., died Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington.

She was a former principal of Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills from 1950-65, and taught math and physics at the school from 1939-'50. She also taught at Bishop Brossart High School in Campbell County from 1965-'70.

Surviving are two friends, Lorraine E. Bohman of Covington, and Anna Marie Evans of Erlanger, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m. today at St. Charles Care Center in Covington.

Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Homes are handling arrangements.

Wilma J. Jones

INDEPENDENCE - Wilma Jean Jones, 62, a former deputy jailer for Kenton County, and member of St. Patrick Church in Independence, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

Surviving are her mother, Annie Mae O'Neill of Independence; two sons, Kevin D. Jones of Taylor Mill, and John P. Jones; three brothers, Melvin O'Neill of Covington, William O'Neill of South Carolina, and Herbert O'Neill of Las Vegas; a sister, Myrna Hornback of Covington, and two grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. today at St. Patrick Church, 3280 Mills Road, Independence. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright. Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home in Covington is handling arrangements.

Charles C. Hicks Sr.

MORNINGVIEW - Charles Clifford Hicks Sr., 67, former owner of the Spinning Wheel Tavern, died Monday at VA Medical Center in Cincinnati.

Surviving are four sons, Charles Jr. of Louisville, Steve of Erlanger, Gary of Harrison, Ohio, and Brian of Morningview; two daughters, Julia Ann Unthank of Covington, and Deborah Faye Whittamore of Florence; two sisters, Evelyn Buckler of Erlanger, and Delores McCarthy of Hebron; 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday. Service will be 10 a.m. today at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

No memorials.
