WEST CHESTER TWP. - A West Chester man was charged with inducing panic, a felony, after a six-hour standoff Friday with officers at his Dimmick Road home.
Greg Tiemann, 23, also faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing justice and domestic violence.
The incident began about 1:30 a.m. when officers were called to the Back Porch Saloon on Princeton-Glendale Road after a report that Tiemann allegedly threatened the mother of his child.
"Upon police officers' arrival, the suspect fled," West Chester Assistant Police Chief Gil Flick said.
Officers found Tiemann about 4:30 a.m. at his home in the 7400 block of Dimmick, Flick said.
He refused to come out of the house and the standoff began.
Dimmick was closed near Cincinnati-Columbus Road as officers negotiated with Tiemann for several hours.
"We had no overt indications of weapons involved," Flick said. "We had no indication that anyone was being held against their will."
Shortly after 10 a.m., officers fired several rounds of tear gas into the house. Tiemann then surrendered without further incident. There were no reported injuries.
