FORT WRIGHT - Two Ohio teen-agers accused of leading Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky police on a high-speed chase before ditching their car at a restaurant parking lot Thursday morning face traffic and fleeing charges.
A 16-year-old who was a passenger in the black Nissan Stanza was still at large. .
The car was abandoned in the parking lot of the Frisch's restaurant at Kyles Lane and Dixie Highway at 9:37 a.m., said Fort Wright Police Chief Dan Kreinest. Police from seven agencies, including some with guns drawn, captured the two other teens within 40 minutes.
A Cincinnati police motorcycle officer said the chase began when he tried to pull over the driver on West Sixth Street for speeding. The driver did not stop.
"Cincinnati police terminated their pursuit as they were coming across the (Brent Spence) Bridge,'' Kreinest said. "The suspects had started out at 69 mph in a 50 mph zone and accelerated from there. When the driver of the Nissan was swerving from the right to the left lane at exceptional rates of speed in heavy traffic, the officer decided it wasn't worth it to continue the pursuit."
Douglas L. Adamski, 18, of Cincinnati, was jailed in the Kenton County Detention Center on felony charges of first-degree fleeing and first-degree wanton endangerment, and a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. Adamski also was charged with failure to appear on a traffic warrant in Campbell County.
Ledford Thomas Frasure Jr., 18, of Elmwood Place, faces misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and second-degree fleeing and evading.
