Fire damage may cut operations at Magnode plant in Trenton
The Cincinnati Enquirer
TRENTON - A fire at the Magnode Corp. on Thursdaycaused an undetermined amount of damage and forced this Butler County city's largest employer to curtail operations temporarily.
Fire Chief Thomas Puckett said flames were shooting through the roof by the time firefighters arrived at the scene on Ohio 73 near Gwen Lane. Nearly 80 people were inside the plant - which makes aluminum products - when the fire started, but no one was hurt, Puckett said.
Police Chief Rodney Hale said Sgt. Danny Greene spotted smoke as he drove past the building at 5:24 p.m.
For at least two hours, Ohio 73 - the main thoroughfare for the city of 9,000 - remained closed outside the plant. The facility, which employs about 100, probably will have to limit or cease operations for a couple of days, officials said.
