Pam Myers

Queen of Cincinnati musical theater, Pam Myers has memorably starred in Sweeney Todd and Gypsy for Playhouse in the Park. Broadway credits include a Tony nomination for Stephen Sondheim's Company and the recent revival of Into the Woods. She returns to the local musical stage as bad girl "scorch" singer Kay Goodman in the noir romp Nite Club Confidential at Ensemble Theatre (Sept. 3-21).

What's Kay's girl power? Kay thinks she's in a movie - Doris Day with a picket fence, but she keeps winding up being Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. But I get to sing a lot of great songs along the way.

Does she have a happily ever after? As long as she doesn't mind exchanging a smart gown for prison stripes.

Your five-year plan? I'll still be singing and, hopefully, fattening up the 401k as fast as I can.

Favorite place to hear live music? Music Hall. Great room, great band.

Favorite Graeter's flavor? Flavor of the month. ... I do love coconut in coconut month, peach in peach month ...

How high are your heels? As high as the chiropractor will allow. One time I got a review for my New York cabaret act, it was a great review, there was a phrase, "She has a voice like a rusty stiletto." Wouldn't that be a great name for a character? Rusty Stiletto! It was a compliment, I think.

Why is she the one? "It had to be Pam Myers because of her fabulous sense of humor and her fabulous voice," says director D. Lynn Meyers.

What's next? I don't know. I wish I did. I'll be auditioning in New York. If I don't get a show in the next few months, I'm going to be booking my act (supporting her new CD, A Chance to Sing) and doing it wherever they'll hire me.
