Smart mouth

You heard it here first

Compiled by Chuck Martin

Just In

Marty Piazza and Guy Discepoli have added to their wine shop empire by buying the former Glendale Wines (23 Village Square) in Glendale. In addition to wines from around the world, Piazza-Discepoli-Glendale offers imported and specialty beers, cheese and gourmet food. Open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

Piazza and Discepoli also own wine shops in White Oak, Madeira and College Hill.

What Is This?

Devonshire Cream or "clotted cream" is a specialty of Devonshire, England, used as a topping for fresh fruit and desserts. Clotted cream is available in some specialty stores, or make your own by leaving fresh cream to stand, covered, at room temperature (6 hours in summer, about 12 hours in winter). Then scald cream over very low heat (don't let boil) until small rings or undulations form on surface. Remove from heat and refrigerate at least 12 hours. Skim thickest cream from top.

Cool Stuff . . . On The George Foreman Grill

We use the grill to cook goetta. It's great because you don't get the splatter and popping you get in a skillet. And the goetta comes out crispy.
