Mrs. Corrington

MASON - In the early 1990s, Donna June Drickey Corrington heard about the Interfaith Hospitality Network program in Columbus. She wondered why the ministry that provides shelter to homeless families couldn't be brought to Cincinnati.
So she got her husband, Dale, to drive her to Columbus to check it out. She invited the director to come to Cincinnati to advise and help recruit ministers.
The result was a shelter in Price Hill supported by a consortium of religious groups. Mrs. Corrington served on its executive board for several years.
Mrs. Corrington died from complications of throat cancer Monday at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash. The Mason resident was 82.
She spent her life serving others. At St. Paul United Methodist Church in Madeira, she organized study groups and social service initiatives, sponsoring the Vietnamese refugee families and the food co-op program.
She also served on the boards of the Metropolitan Area Religious Coalition of Churches, the Madeira Home for Developmentally Disabled and the Advisory Council for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
She was an honorary life member of the PTA, having served as president of the Deer Park Elementary School PTA and the Valley Area Council of the PTA; district director for Hamilton, Clermont and Brown counties; and vice president of the Ohio State PTA.
A native of the Black Hills of South Dakota, Mrs. Corrington attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Dale M. Corrington; two daughters, Janet Werness of Minneapolis and Judy Bonds of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a brother, Paul Drickey of Midland, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is noon, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. A reception follows the service.
Memorials: Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242 or St. Paul United Methodist Church, Outreach Ministries, 8221 Miami Road, Madeira, OH 45343.
