Sorority launches buckle-up effort

The Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. will sponsor a Buckle Up for Safety project Saturday to promote the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers. Volunteers will be at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to educate people about seat belt use:
Evanston - St. Stephen AME Church; Roselawn - Jordan Crossing; Springdale - Showcase Cinemas; Oakley - Red Bank and Madison roads; West End - intersections of Court and Linn, and Liberty and Linn streets; St. Bernard - Kroger, off Mitchell Avenue; Oakley - Hyde Park Plaza Kroger; Woodlawn - Kroger; Avondale - Urban League Building, Reading Road; Columbia Township - Wal-Mart; and Oxford - Wal-Mart.
