FRANKFORT - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ben Chandler posted his best monthly fund-raising showing of the general election campaign last month.
Chandler, the state attorney general, raised just more than $1.01 million during August, according to campaign finance records filed with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.
So far, Chandler has raised a total of $1.73 million for the November election.
Chandler, who has received less funding than GOP gubernatorial nominee Ernie Fletcher, raised nearly twice as much in August as he did in July. Chandler collected $518,000 for July.
Meanwhile, Chandler spent $213,456 during August, and has spent a total of $486,434 for his entire campaign. That leaves Chandler with a balance of $1.25 million, compared with June's ending balance of just more than $450,000.
At last count, Fletcher had raised more than $1.85 million for the November election.
That number has likely changed. However, Fletcher had not yet filed his own monthly campaign finance records, which are not due until midnight Friday.
