William J. Rusconi was bank executive


He volunteered, served corporate boards

CLIFTON - William J. Rusconi, a retired executive with the former First National Bank of Cincinnati and an active community volunteer, died Monday at Christ Hospital of complications from a bleeding ulcer.

Mr. Rusconi resided at the Scarlet Oaks Retirement Community in Clifton. He was 75.

A native of Northern Kentucky, Mr. Rosconi graduated from Dixie Heights High School, then the University of Cincinnati after service in the U.S. Navy.

He retired in 1983 as senior vice president of mortgage lending for First National Bank of Cincinnati (now Star Bank) after 40 years of service.

He served on several corporate boards and devoted much of his free time to volunteer organizations, including chairman of the housing committee of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and captain of the University of Cincinnati Corporate Fund.

His board memberships included the Better Housing Program, Volunteers of America, Xavier University Corporate Fund, the Working Review Committee on Housing, American Institute of Banking and Annunciation Church and school.

"If he saw something he wanted to be involved in, he jumped in with both feet," said his son, Michael Rusconi of Hyde Park.

Mr. Rusconi was also an active member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Fairfield Sportsmans Association, Southern Ohio Dog and Game Club, Bankers Club, Medi-Club, Toastmasters International and the Taft Museum.

Rusconi returned to work briefly after he retired, taking a job as vice president of commercial lending for Dayton-based Gem Savings Association in 1985.

In addition to his son Michael, survivors include another son, William of Park City, Utah; three daughters, Suzanna Accetta of Columbus, Cynthia Landsman of Sudbury, Mass., and Sara Thomas of Breckenridge, Colo.; and 14 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Church, 3547 Clifton Ave., Clifton. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Anderson, Baiter & Shand Funeral Home, 3412 Clifton Ave., Clifton.
