Enquirer news services

WILMINGTON - Western Hills High School product Ricky Story scored four touchdowns and rushed for 213 yards to lead Mount St. Joseph to a 26-12 victory over Wilmington on Saturday in the season opener for both teams. Mount St. Joseph rushed for a total of 254 yards, while Wilmington had only 95 yards rushing.

Story scored the second of his four 1-yard touchdowns with 11:58 left in the third quarter to tie the game at 12. His final two TD runs came in the third quarter. The victory over Wilmington was the first for Mount St. Joseph against the Quakers since 1997. Wilmington defeated the Lions 45-20 last year at Mount St. Joseph.

Muskingum 40, Thomas More 35

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - Freshman quarterback Nate Berkley, a Bellevue product, set a single-game school record with 385 yards passing and four touchdowns, but four Thomas More turnovers led to 21 Muskingum points in TMC's season opener.

Dayton 12, Morehead St. 0

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Geno Mattioda rushed for 85 yards and scored Dayton's only touchdown. Dayton (2-0) was ahead 6-0 at halftime after Jason Resch kicked a 35-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 37-yarder in the second. Mattioda's 2-yard touchdown run at the start of the fourth quarter completed the scoring.

Brandon Staley threw for 129 yards, going 9-for-17 with one interception. Dustin Placke led the team in receiving, with 69 yards on two passes. Morehead State was held to 46 rushing yards.
