Cincinnati's leading fair-housing group will discuss mortgage flipping and other potential pitfalls at a Sept. 20-21 course on real-estate investing.
The class, Real Estate Investing 101, has helped launch the careers of many mom-and-pop investors in the Greater Cincinnati area, so fair-housing advocate Karla Irvine says it's the perfect chance to talk to future landlords.
"I want to reach these folks," said Irvine, who heads Housing Opportunities Made Equal. "We are willing to work with them."
Irvine will talk to the class at the invitation of Vena Jones-Cox, past president of the Real Estate Investors Association of Cincinnati and the class instructor.
Jones-Cox said the class will offer a chance for students to learn how to avoid predatory lending and bad mortgage deals. It will also touch on other aspects of investing, including finding properties and vendors.
The two-day course will be at the Clarion Hotel in Blue Ash.
