Ron Roberts, owner of Newport's now-closed Imax theater, has declared personal bankruptcy.
Roberts, who was executive director of the local CEO group the Cincinnati Business Committee until 1996, shut down the U.S. Bank Imax in June. The next month, he filed personal bankruptcy.
The filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court downtown lists assets of $1.1 million and liabilities of $8 million. Assets include a house on Blome Road in Indian Hill and about $660,000 in individual retirement accounts.
In July, Roberts' $400,000 stock portfolio was liquidated and seized to pay debts.
Operators are trying to sell the site at Newport on the Levee where the Imax operated.
